Attended my fourth autocross event at Alameda NAS. I think it's my fourth... is that good that I am forgetting, or does that mean my mind is going? Anyhow as usual hosted by the Golden Gate Region. I decided I like the group so much I switched my membership from Diablo to GGR recently. Anyhow, as usual a blast. The course seemed easier for me to learn and remember beforehand and during but felt a lot more difficult or technical.
Overall I did ok. What is interesting is unlike the usual wow "Wow there's a lot of orange things out there coming at me really fast", instead I am not starting to be able to think and start to imagine putting the car where I want it. That said thinking what I want to do vs. being able to actually do it are two different things! I did all but two runs (first two afternoon runs) with traction control off. I got better at easing and rolling the throttle on off and becoming smoother which was good. At this point I need to learn more about where to throttle more or less and where to put the car. I managed got have Grady come with me for a few afternoon runs and he helped me improve my times.
I had one sorta wipeout on my fourth run. I started to oversteer and tried to correct, and of course went more into the other direction...decided then "both feet in" wasn't such bad advice after all. This Nissan GTR that showed up had four of the largest exhausts I have ever seen. I am pretty sure if God drove a car it would sound something like this did... the volume coming out of the back was pretty epic.
